Take Control Of Your Life & Live It For You!

I know this might sound so selfish, right? So many of you out there are moms, spouses and/or daughters. Its like we are programmed to do everything for everyone else, and we completely disregard our own needs or wants. Especially our own happiness. Yes, we want to be there as much as possible for our loved ones but when we do it unhappily or half heartedly, are we really being there for them the best way we can?

My mom wants to do everything for everyone. I love and respect her dearly for this. But at times she puts her own health at the risk to help others. I always tell her, β€œMa you can’t help anyone, if your laying in a hospital bed”. Now this is an extreme example, but that’s basically the moral here. We have to help ourselves first, so that we can give our full selves to others. You have to Live Your Life For You so you can give your all to the people you care about. And the first step in starting to Live Your Life For You, is to Take Control Of Your Life! We have to take control of our stresses, we have to keep our body, mind and soul alive, and we have to find what makes us happy, then do it!

Take control of your stresses!

All those stresses in life, like: how your going to make the rent payment, or how that person in the car in front of you just cut you off and mean mugged you like you did something wrong, or when your son requests for a last minute sack lunch because he doesn’t like what is being served at school that day. All those stresses……Yeah, I know they are agitating….believe me…..been there, stressed about that….But where does stressing get you? You still have to find a way to pay the rent, you can’t change the attitude of the person who cut you off, and your either gonna make your son a sack lunch or your going to tell him β€œnot today, hun” . No matter what, life goes on! The questions is….. Will you move on with all that stress barring on your shoulders???

I say NO! Let’s take control of our stress and throw it out the window. You know what i do when I am faced with unwanted stress??? This may sound a bit clichΓ©, but I close my eyes, bring my hands up by my side, place my thumb and middle finger together, take a big breath and say β€œWoosah”. I swear it works! It feels like your taking in a big breath of calmness and your exhaling all the stress, negativity and anxiety. So the next time you are in a stressful predicament…..First remember stress gets you no where and then just say β€œWoosah”!

Keep Your Mind, Body and Soul Alive!

On to keeping our body, mind and soul alive. OK, to explain what I mean, I have to talk about death. What happens when you die? Your body starts to decompose, rot, to ruin. If we don’t keep our body, mind and soul alive, that’s exactly what it starts to do. Our muscles and bones start to shrivel up, our minds forget the knowledge we have worked so hard to gain, and our soul becomes empty. I know, I’m very dramatic! But I want you to really grasp this concept. This is important. We must keep these things ALIVE. We must Live!

Take care of your body, its the only one you have. Keep it toned and healthy. Treat it as your most precious possession, because it is! Feed your mind. Keep educating yourself. Whether your learning another language, learning technology, or learning how to do pottery. Please keep feeding your mind. Set your soul on fire. Make that bucket list and start checking them off one at a time. Dance under the moon light….Travel to a distance land….Jump off of a 40 ft. cliff into beautiful blue ocean….Sing karaoke as loud as you can (even if you are a horrible singer…!me!…..lol). Just…..Light that fire baby!

Find What Makes You Happy

Now lets find our happiness! What do you love to do? Let me rephrase that. What Do You LOVE To Do, Just For You? Do you love to paint, maybe read a good book, maybe what you love to do is as simple as taking a hot bath (with no one calling out MOM)? You might have a few things that you Love to do just for you. For me its my DIY dΓ©cor. I love transforming something blah, into something fabulous. I love having a great piece of dΓ©cor in my house for next to nothing. But most of all I love the sense of accomplishment I get from it.

Find what makes you happy. Something you can do on a regular basis. Then take those things that make you happy and start incorporating them into your life. I promise you, once you start doing this, all those little tasks like washing dishes….hauling your kids to and from their extra curricular activities all day….or the 12 pg. report your boss is requesting by tomorrow, they won’t be so bad anymore.

Start applying these things into your life, and you will find you have taken control of your life and you are living it for you!

Repeat after me β€œI’m taking control of my life and I’m going to live it for me!”

Now go take control and live life!!!
