Easy & Inexpensive DIY Boxwood Wreath!
Todayβs Home DΓ©cor post is an Easy & Inexpensive DIY Boxwood Wreath. This is so simple to make and only uses 2 items. The first item is an embroidery hoop. Which can be found at any hobby or craft store and online. The second is this faux boxwood garland I picked up from Target last yr. I found it on clearance (one of my favorite ways to shop) after the Christmas season had ended. But I am sure you can find one similar now that this Christmas season is right around the corner.
Getting Started
The first thing you want to do is separate the embroidery hoop. The hoop consists of two circles. To separate them you simply have to loosen the screw attached to the outer circle. I utilized the inner circle, the one with out the screw mechanism. But you can use either. You would just want to you fully cover the mechanism with the boxwood, as you go along.
Start Wrapping
Once you have picked which circle you will be using, you are going to take one end of your garland and start to wrap it tightly around the embroidery hoop. You will want to keep one hand on the beginning of the wreath, until about 1/4 of the way is wrapped. Other wise the garland that you just wrapped will become very loose. Also as a word to the wise, it is best not to unravel all of your garland, but keep it in a bunch. If you unravel it, you will be having to pull all of the unraveled garland through the hoop, every timeΒ you wrap it around the hoop. And this becomes very time consuming and aggravating #learnfrommymistakes! lol
The Finishing Touches
Once you have completely wrapped the garland around the embroidery hoop, you can secure the two ends by just twisting them together. Now you will want to take a look at your new wreath and adjust the garland to verify the garland is spaced evenly.
My garland was 19.7 (6m) in length and my embroidery hoop was a 12inch embroidery hoop. I had the perfect amount of garland to cover my hoop.
